Quality review and rework
How completed work is sampled for QA, scored against a scorecard, and returned for rework, and how coaching follows.
For: OwnerStaff
Quality review in LegalBook is structured: work is sampled by rules, scored against a published scorecard, findings are recorded and never edited, and failed work goes back for rework.
Sampling
Supervisors set sampling rules in Sampling. The eight modes are full, percentage, risk-based, new worker, new process, triggered, attorney return and random audit. Rules are evaluated in order and the first rule that samples an item wins. A simulator shows which rule would sample a given item.
By default, legal drafting work (forms, declarations, packets, filings, closeout) is reviewed in full, new workers and risky work types are sampled more, and work an attorney returned is sampled.
Scorecards
A scorecard (QA template) lists the items a reviewer checks, each with a weight and, where relevant, marked critical. Scorecards are versioned; a review stays on the version it started with. Manage them in Scorecards.
Review
QA auditors work reviews from QA reviews.
- Open a review. The reviewed work, its outputs, evidence and notes are shown.
- Score each scorecard item pass, fail or not applicable, with notes and evidence.
- Record findings: the error category, its impact, the root cause and a training action.
- Complete the review.
The score is the weighted share of items passed. A review fails if any critical item fails or the score is under the firm's pass threshold. Findings are permanent; a correction is recorded as a correction, not an edit.
The QA reviewer must be independent of the work: a person does not review their own work.
Rework
A failed review returns the work for rework, with the issues listed. By default rework goes back to the original worker if available, and rework is reviewed in full again. Both are attorney or operations settings.
What the worker sees
Workers see their results in QA feedback (Production workspace): whether QA was required and the review outcome for their items.
Coaching
Supervisors manage coaching in Coaching. Coaching items come from QA findings, complaints, rework trends, KPIs or the supervisor's own initiative. A session is scheduled, completed with an outcome (optionally assigning training), or cancelled. The worker sees only the title, the coach and the date.
Trends
Trends shows pass rates and findings over time by type, queue and worker. Critical findings page the firm's escalation tree.
