What LegalBook is, and is not
You practice law. We run the operating system around you.
§ 1What it is
An operations platform plus a managed workforce.
LegalBook is for independent law firms that are good at the law and stretched on everything around it. It brings phone reception, intake, existing-client service, document collection, workflow, quality control, reporting and the client portal into one system with one record, and it is designed to be worked by trained people who serve several firms without crossing any firm’s walls.
The aim is that a small firm can operate like a much larger one, without hiring, training, scheduling and supervising every support role itself, while the firm stays independent and keeps control of its practice.
§ 2What it is not
What it is not.
- Not a law firm
- LegalBook does not practice law, give legal advice or form an attorney-client relationship with your clients.
- Attorneys supervise
- Your attorneys supervise all legal work. Legal judgments (conflicts, eligibility, strategy, filing, deadlines) are attorney actions in the product.
- Not a marketing agency
- LegalBook does not sell leads or run a lawyer marketplace. Your firm brings its own clients.
- Not a replacement for your system of record
- LegalBook works alongside practice-management systems such as Clio rather than replacing them.
- No fee-sharing
- LegalBook does not take a percentage of your legal fees.
§ 3Supervision
Attorneys supervise, and the product enforces it.
- Your firm configures what its staff may do: the allowed actions on each kind of work item come from your delegation rules
- Legal judgments are attorney gates: conflict decisions, intake acceptance, deadline verification, filing approval and closing a matter
- When a caller asks for legal judgment, the receptionist escalates to an attorney from the call screen
- Every rule that needs a licensed attorney’s configuration is marked as such in the firm’s settings, with a safe default
§ 4Where we are
Early access.
The product is built and tested: reception, intake, matters, documents, workflows, work queues and QA, the attorney app, the client portal, reporting and the security controls described on this site. LegalBook is in early access.
Live vendor connections (phone service, email mailboxes, online payments, e-signature, calendar sync and Clio Manage) each wait for certification with that vendor or for provider setup, and AI suggestions wait for their provider. Each is marked “Not available yet” wherever it appears.
