Translation requests

A translation request asks for a document to be translated into another language. It is tracked as work, with a translator, a reviewer and a due date.

Open Translations in the Production workspace. The tabs are Unassigned, Mine, In review and All. Filter by language pair, certification, due date and matter.

  1. Choose Assign to me. Supervisors can assign a named translator, with the language match shown.
  2. Start the translation. The source opens read-only beside your draft.
  3. Upload the translated document.
  4. Submit. If the request needs certification, you complete the certification and attestation.
  5. A reviewer completes it or returns it for changes.

A translation request moves through requested, assigned, in translation, review and complete, or is cancelled.

Outside translation vendors see only their own assignments and the source they need. They cannot change the source document.

Signatures

A signature request sends one exact version of a document to one or more signers, in order, with a due date and reminders.

  1. In the document, choose to request signatures.
  2. Pick the channel:
    • Client portal: each signer signs in their portal. Each signer needs portal access.
    • Wet ink: a signature-collection task is created, and staff record each signature with Mark signed when the paper comes back.
    • E-signature: uses the firm's connected e-signature provider. Not available yet; without a connected provider, the request falls back to the client portal where that is enabled.
  3. Choose the signers from the matter's participants, set the due date and reminders, and write instructions in each signer's language.
  4. Send.

Only the accepted version is sent, never an older or failed one. While the firm requires an attorney decision before signature, a staff member who is not an attorney must link the attorney decision that releases the document. Reminders follow business hours and are never sent between 21:00 and 08:00.

A signature request moves through requested, sent, partially signed and completed, or ends declined, expired, voided or failed.
