Your subscription and usage
What the firm's subscription includes and the usage ledger that records exactly what the firm used, with each entry's source.
For: Owner
LegalBook keeps two ledgers that never mix: what the firm owes LegalBook (this page), and what the firm's clients owe the firm (Client invoices and payments).
Subscription & usage
Open Billing → Subscription & usage in the Firm workspace. You need usage permission (Firm owner, Firm administrator or Billing specialist).
The screen has four tabs:
- Usage: each meter for the current period, against what the plan includes.
- Ledger: the usage ledger, entry by entry, with the source of each entry.
- Invoices: LegalBook's invoices to the firm.
- Breaches: alerts when usage goes past what the plan includes.
The plan and its add-ons are shown at the top, with an estimate for the period that is clearly labelled as an estimate.
What is metered
| Meter | Counted from |
|---|---|
| Handled call minutes | Completed calls |
| After-hours call minutes | Completed calls outside business hours |
| Premium language minutes | Completed calls in premium languages |
| SMS/MMS segments | Text messages sent |
| Voicemail minutes | Voicemails left |
| Active matters | Open matters |
| Documents processed | Accepted documents |
| Case workflow runs | Workflows started |
| Filings submitted | Submitted filings |
| Dedicated worker seats | Dedicated seats |
| Storage | Documents and recordings stored |
Test calls and sandbox activity are not counted.
The ledger cannot be edited
Usage entries are immutable. A correction is a reversing entry, not an edit, so the ledger always shows what happened and when. Each entry names the event it came from, so a figure on an invoice can be traced back to the calls, messages or documents behind it.
Pricing
Pricing is quoted for each firm. Usage above what the plan includes is recorded and raises an alert; billing does not stop the firm's work on its own.
